Automatic Dog Washer Looks Like Waterboarding for Pets [France]

DayPortPlayer.newPlayer({articleID:”15837″,bannerContainer:”OverrideAdArea”,playerInstanceID:”1″,domain:”keye.dayport.com”,rootCategory:”79″,categoryID:”5″});I don’t understand a word of the video because I don’t understand the language of surrender, but I don’t need to in order to see that the dogs trapped inside of this $30,000 contraption for the four minutes of washing and drying aren’t exactly experiencing jouissance. They’re dogs, not designer jeans, people. And the guy that climbed inside to show it’s safe is probably a plant who loves pain. [Key TV via Spluch]

Ixing’s TM-M1 MP3 player: more nano than nano

Filed under: Portable Audio, Portable Video

When you call yourself “nano,” you’d be wise to prepare for the onslaught of throne seeking waifs. In from stage Seoul comes this 5.6-mm slimster, the TM-M1 from Ixing. That’s nearly 1-mm thiner than the iPod nano — less than a quarter-inch thin. Announced at the IFA show, the TM-M1 is now available in 1, 2, and 4GB capacities with built-in FM radio (and recording). The 10-hour battery with 2-hour charge is pretty lackluster however, and that 1.5-inch, 65k color OLED won’t win any awards either. Still, it’s fracking thin and that has to count for something, right? Priced at about $100 for 2GB if you can track these down outside of S.Korea.

A List of Features You Want in the iPhone That You Probably Won’t Get [Apple]

Okay, technically it’s a list of features Gadget Lab’s readers want, but you guys probably want them too, right? Stuff like iChat, cut and paste functions and the ever-craved “media disinterest.” Anything you want that didn’t make the list? Better still if it’s genuinely awesome but less likely to happen than Apple joining the Open Handset Alliance. [Gadget Lab]

Panasonic CF-W7, CF-T7, and CF-Y7 Toughbooks spotted in FCC

If you found yourself quite envious after hearing that Japan would be getting four new Toughbooks while America got the proverbial shaft, it’s time to put your beef aside and bust out the party favors. Turns out, a trio of the new lappies have appeared on the FCC’s website, giving us great hope that the revamped CF-W7, CF-T7 and CF-Y7 will be headed stateside soon. Sadly, none of the filings are very disclosing when it comes to specifications, but we are assured that each machine will sport Bluetooth, WiFi and integrated support for EV-DO Rev. A / HSDPA. We’ll be keeping an ear to the ground for anything official, but for the time being, check out the FCC’s uber-sweet photography skills on the W7 / Y7 after the jump.

Video: Homebrew AT-ST Walker Bobbles Around Like the Real Thing [Robots]

The MiniMechadon walker works pretty much as advertised: It walks, awkwardly and prodding, just like the AT-STs you know and love. Cobbled together from a gumbo of parts, circuit boards and brass tubing, it’s not quite as sparse as its film counterpart, what with the disco feet and all, but that’s kind of why we dig it. The one thing the Empire didn’t have enough of was style. Hit the jump for a shiny still shot. [Mike Smyth via TechEBlog via Technabob]

While I cannot definitively confirm that the CAM-007 is the world’s smallest commercial camcorder spycam (see exhibit A and exhibit B), the self-contained device does clock in at a minuscule 0.3″x0.9″x0.5″ and it boasts a fairly impressive feature set that includes both audio and video recording, MPEG-4 3 GP at 15fps, a built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery that recharges via USB (up to 2 hours of recording), and Micro SD up to 2GB with room for approx. 19 hours of video on a 1GB card. Rumor Smashed: No Zune Video Share [Microsoft Zune]

There’s a rumor going around stemming from Microsoft’s emails last night informing people of the Zune 2 features that the upcoming players/software update will bring video sharing. We spoke with Microsoft and they told us that no, the new Zunes cannot transfer video from device to device, putting this rumor into out of commission before it starts snowballing into something crazy like Zunes ending the WGA strike.
Also, in case people forgot, Zune Social is the name of their cool new social networking site where you can see what your friends have been listening, to as well as check out stats under each band to see who’s listened to them the most. Prepare to see our names under Pat Benatar.

Pac-Man Electric Guitar For Retro Game Loving Rockers [Gaming Guitar]

I can’t play the guitar worth a damn, but with any luck the Pac-Man electric guitar would allow me to tap into my inner musician by channeling my dominant inner gaming nerd. Designed by Specimen Custom Guitars, the Pac-Man guitar features a blinking headstock and a variable-speed knob located on the eyeball that can synchronize the blinker to the beat. Unfortunately, the guitar is one-of-a-kind so chances are you won’t be able to play one yourself—which is a shame because I would love to hear how this thing sounds. [Specimen via Ubergizmo]
