Hands On Nikon D60 With Stop-Motion Movie Walkthrough [Hands On]

Pop quiz: Which one of these is the D60, and which one is a D40? You can’t tell, can you? Ha! That’s because it really is pretty much the same chassis (and guts) so if you know the D40x, you know the D60. The best new thing is the stop-motion movie stringer, which is quick, if simple—here’s the whole process: galleryPost(\’d60stop\’, 7, \’\');

Wazz Shelf Hides Those Unsightly Speakers [Concept]

It seems that the trend these days is to go for a clean look by incorporating speakers directly into furniture and fixtures. In this case, designer Jean Louis Frechin disguises computer speakers as shelf supports. The unit is described as “a shelf connected to a computer that doubles as a device for audio diffusion and archiving digital music files (MP3)”—but further details are scarce and the exact nature of the connection is unknown. It appears to be wireless, which would certainly be necessary for a wall fixture of this type. At any rate, it looks pretty slick—a marketable concept for sure. [pan-dan via Apartment Therapy]

Obama #1 In Gates and Jobs Households, Donation-Wise [Politics]

Bill Gates has only made one presidential-candidate campaign donation this season, and it was to Barack Obama. Meanwhile, although Steve Jobs’ wife Laurene has given nice sums to each of the three leading Democratic candidates, Barack appears to be the apple of her eye, if you calculate that in terms of dollars. Steve himself is not in the registry. What’s more, neither billionaire tech household donated a (traceable) penny to any of the Republicans currently running for office.
Around this time of year, I like to poke around in the MoneyLine campaign donation search tool at Congressional Quarterly’s website. You can look up anyone you want—campaign donations by law have to be public. Sometimes the results are clear, as in the case of William H. Gates, “esecutive” (sic) of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.Things are a tad murkier when it comes to Palo Alto resident Laurene P Jobs:
Given the […]

Bath-O-Matic Fills Your Tub for $8000 [Bathtub Fun]

Fine, it’s a little more complex than that. The Bath-O-Matic from Unique Automation is an automated bathtub filler that draws a bath just the way you like it. Through a touch screen interface, bathers can choose the temperature and height of the water, as well as any combination of oils, bubbles and fragrances.
galleryPost(\’bathomatic\’, 3, \’\');

The Bath-O-Matic is equipped to run on home automation equipment from AMX and Crestron if you want to fill your tub from the comfort of your couch, and can fit on tubs both old and new. It also includes a motorized plug so no water is wasted, and adjusts to pressure and outside temperature so you won’t have to worry about getting burned. Just slap a toaster and an iPod on this baby, and I think we have a real winner. It sells for £4000 (about $8000) so you better get one before supplies run out. […]

Inflatable Mouse is Super Portable, Fun to Squish [Concept]

The Jelly Click mouse concept could make it easy for business travelers to carry around a full-size mouse without taking up a whole lot of space. The device itself is fairly simple: a small flexible board carries all of the circuitry while the body is composed of plastic that can be blown up manually.

When not in use, it can be folded into a compact size or slid between the screen and keyboard of your laptop when closed. It may be a little weird from a tactile perspective, but I can see this idea becoming a reality. Although smokers with weak lungs may have a problem with it. [Yanko Design]

Question of the Day: Do You Care if a Company is “Green” When it Comes to Gadgets? [Question Of The Day]

As I am sure you know, Greenpeace has been all over Apple about it not being more eco-friendly with regard to its products. Needless to say, the term “hippie” gets thrown around quite a bit when we discuss these issues, but there is no doubt that there is a lot of pressure on companies to go green these days. However, the question is: do you care if a company is green as long as they make cool gadgets?

Facebook Added “Clear All” Option to Clear Requests

Just after I discovered the way to ignore all Facebook requests at once, Facebook has now officially added a “clear all” option on your requests page, if only you have more than 25 requests waiting.

Image: facebook added clear all option
I like the “Clear All” option as much as the “Ignore All” bookmarklet, but the requirement of at least 25 requests to see the “Clear All” option is simply stupid!
Why don’t Facebook simply enable the “Clear All” option as long as you have a waiting request?
I will stick with Ignore All bookmarklet.

Domino’s Online Pizza Tracking Accurate to 40 Seconds: Too Bad Their Pizza Sucks [Pizza Spying]

Domino’s new online pizza tracking system will allow hungry customers to keep tabs on their pizza from the moment they place the order up until the moment it leaves the store—and it is accurate to 40 seconds. The service even gives customers the first names of the workers who take their phone order and deliver their pizza, so slackers will have to shape up or ship out. Unfortunately, the tracker stops short of keeping tabs on the drivers when they are in route, so the time it takes for their beater car to sputter to your door may still be tense for impatient pizza lovers.
Interestingly enough, part of the ordering process involves an oath that asks you to “agree to use the Domino’s Pizza Tracker to only track your own Domino’s Pizza orders.” So apparently it is possible to engage is some sort of shady pizza fraud scheme. At any […]

Dell, Google May Make Joint Android/Google Phone Announcement at 3GSM [Google Android]

“Senior industry sources” are making the bold claim that Dell and Google are going to announce a joint effort to make THE GOOGLE PHONE at the 3GSM conference in February. That sounds unlikely to us, and with Dell’s history of putting their name on other people’s gadgets (the iPod, for example), if anything it’s probably just another manufacturer announcing that they’ll make an Android phone. What else could be announced at a phone conference? [MarketingWeek]
